The Custer County 4-H program provides learning experiences designed to help youth develop life skills such as communications, citizenship, decision-making, leadership, interpersonal relations and community and global awareness. These skills are sharpened by members participating in a vast array of projects. 4-H members can choose from livestock, rocketry, shooting, sports, entomology, leathercraft, potography, woodworking, baking, cake decorating and creative clothing.

The Custer County 4-H program is the youth development arm of Colorado State University. Other support for the 4-H program comes from the local and state government, and the US Department of Agriculture.
