Friends of the Library's two annual craft shows provide funds for many library projects.
The mission of the West Custer County Library Friends is to help the Library make educational, informational, and cultural services available to the public. The Friends provide funding for books, movies, encyclopedias (which were updated in 2007), the Children's Summer Reading Program (140 kids), the Teen Summer Reading Program (18 kids), three Chautauqua (history) performances per year, Beginning Internet Workshops for patrons, computers and software like the website that allows patrons to access their accounts on line from home to renew books, or to see what the Library has and put items on hold, training for Staff at State Library workshops, the Interlibrary Loan Courier System, and new steel shelving which will provide room for growth for another 10 years.

The Friends' funding is derived from the annual membership drive, two annual Arts and Crafts Fairs, and other fundraising events. Throughout the year new members are welcomed who want to contribute financially or with their time and energy. Information about how to become a Friend is available through the Friends' contact information on this website, and from the Library.

The two Arts and Crafts Fairs are held on Thursday through Sunday. The winter show is held the first weekend in December and this year will be held in the Fellowship Hall at the Hope Lutheran Church at 3rd and Powell Streets in Westcliffe. It will be a great opportunity for the public to purchase holiday gifts made by local artists and craftspeople. The summer show is held in mid-July on the same weekend as the Stampede. Artists and craftspeople who are residents of Custer County or hold a West Custer County Library card are eligible to participate as vendors.

The new steel shelving was purchased for the library by Friends of the Library.
Friends of the Library fund raising efforts provided the children's reading area with a mobile project cart.
We welcome you to visit the library, browse the many offerings, and join the Friends of the Library.
