The Wet Mountain Valley Community Foundation is dedicated to supporting the activities and financial needs of the valley’s non-profit organizations. The WMV Community Foundation is one of over 650 community foundations across the US that focus of providing a simple, personal approach to giving within communities like the Wet Mountain Valley.

| The Wet Mountain Valley Community Foundation was founded in 1999, and since that time has distributed approximately $350,000 to as many as 35 non-profit organizations in Custer County. Grants and gifts have been given to the arts, education, recreation, historical preservation, emergency services health care and related fields of service. |

| The Community Foundation’s Community Spirit Campaign, instituted in 2004, provides matching funds for personal gifts made to local non-profit organizations. The Community Spirit program has prompted increasing charitable donations and has become a significant fundraising effort for many of the Wet Mountain Valley’s non-profits. The program will be continued in 2006. |
