| The UAACOG’s Self Help Housing program offers several floor plans, with the basic house having three bedrooms, two baths, a two car garage in 1,200 square feet. Homeowners put in 600-720 hours of sweat equity which is their down payment. Four to eleven families build the houses under the supervision of a building professional. Work requiring licensed professionals is subcontracted out. All families work on all the houses and when they are completed the families may move in. Volunteers may help with construction. Monthly mortgage payments will include principal, interest, taxes and insurance. To qualify, homeowners must make less than 85% of the area median income or $45,100 for a family of four. Department of Agriculture financing is used for the Self Help Housing program and sufficient funds are available to finance homes of all eligible applicants. |
