Pet Project, a Pueblo-based non-profit animal welfare organization established in 2003, has several volunteers living in the Wet Mountain Valley. The main function of Pet Project is to rescue animals from shelters in southern Colorado and place them in good homes. The group also promotes spay/neuter and has worked on TNR programs. Honesty and integrity are integral to the Pet Project mission.

| Community volunteers in the Wet Mountain Valley are joining forces with Dr. Julie Sperry of Cliffes Veterinary Clinic in Silver Cliff, Colorado, to increase spay and neuter procedures in the Wet Mountain Valley area. Since June, Jennifer Myers has been working with Dr. Sperry on a feral cat TNR (trap/neuter/release) Program. Jennifer has been trapping feral cats and having them spayed at the Cliffes Veterinary Clinic. Cliffes has performed more than 40 of these procedures at discount rates and costs have been covered by local donations. |

| In addition to supporting the feral cat TNR program in the Valley, Pet Project volunteers living in this area have identified a need for a low cost spay and neuter program. For this reason, Pet Project has decided to partner with Jennifer Myers and Dr. Sperry to provide these services by sponsoring a local branch called Pet Project Wet Mountain Valley. Pet Project WMV volunteers have submitted grant proposals to support spay and neuter of dogs and cats of low income owners and Dr. Sperry has agreed to perform these services at discount rates using grant funds if obtained. By combining our efforts and working under the Pet Project umbrella, Pet Project WMV hopes to have a greater impact on the number of spays and neuters in the Valley. Pet Project Pueblo has pledged to match the first $500 in donations made to Pet Project WMV. |
