Rebecca’s Fund—Art for Children of the Wet Mountain Valley was founded in the memory of Rebecca Samuelson to combine several of her passions; children, art and our beautiful valley. Rebecca’s Fund provides financial assistance to Custer County Schools and the Sangre Art Guild to help promote visual arts through education, experiences and scholarship for children and young adults in the Wet Mountain Valley.
Since our inception in July we have funded 8 high school students with supplies and scholarship for an oil painting workshop, sponsored a Disney Animator’s visit to Westcliffe where he worked with the school art students, presented an assembly and a public presentation. We are sponsoring an overnight field trip for 30 high school art students to experience museums and galleries in Santa Fe. We’ve sponsored Art Hulabaloo events and will sponsor a monthly Preschool Art Program. Our plans for the summer are to help fund the Sangre Art Guild in their mission for summer art enrichment programs, especially an event combined with Creative Kids Theater Camp for afternoon art lessons. We are excited about the future and hope you will help us continue to bring art to the children of Custer County.
