Mission
Supporting breakthrough educational endeavors in Custer County. The Educational Legacy Fund organization consists of individuals with expertise and passion for educational innovation. It funds transformational proposals focusing on Custer County students readiness for life that are evaluated and monitored for long term effects – a legacy to increase access to knowledge.
About
What has the Education Legacy Fund accomplished to date?
• 2016 – Formed and funded the first IT program at Custer County Schools – purchased the hardware and software for two classes and funded an IT teacher. Where there was no IT program prior to this initiative, no CCS student can now graduate without a credit in IT.
• Funded several key professional development programs to raise teacher skills and knowledge upgrades
• Supported field trips for students to expand their horizon
• Initiated and funded a major investment (over $100,000) in Promethean Boards – interactive computer board systems in key classrooms
ELF Plans for the future?
• ELF is constantly searching for breakthrough ideas to expand the educational opportunities for Custer County students and staff. ELF in particular intends to create and fund opportunities to offset the challenges faced by students in isolated rural communities such as ours.
• The longer term objectives include the growth of our legacy fund to ensure longer term funding that spans multiple generations. To this end, ELF is soliciting funds from estate plans, legacy funds, community generosity and grant making by institutions. We are very appreciative of the generosity of several local families who have already made significant contributions to our fund.
